About Us

The Mission of Trout Unlimited

To bring together diverse interests to care for and recover rivers and streams so our children can experience the joy of wild and native trout and salmon.

Our Vision

For communities across America to engage in the work of repairing and renewing the rivers, streams and other waters on which we all depend.

Who We Are

Founded in Michigan in 1959, Trout Unlimited today is a national non-profit organization with 300,000 members and supporters dedicated to conserving, protecting and restoring America’s coldwater fisheries and their watersheds. Our staff and volunteers work from coast to coast to protect, reconnect, restore and sustain trout and salmon habitat on behalf of today’s anglers and coming generations of sportsmen and women who value the connection between healthy, intact habitat and angling opportunity.

Western New York Trout Unlimited

The Western New York Chapter of Trout Unlimited was formed in 1963. Our membership currently stands at over 800 members in the Western New York area, the second largest in the state only bested by NYC. The strength of an organization like TU is the ability to bring together diverse groups of people under one banner to do great work. Our presence at outdoor shows is just as important as the restoration projects we do, the youth education and the work with veterans as it allows us to get ourselves in front of the community and increase awareness.
