June Trout Stream Electrofishing Schedule Finalized

Below is the June electrofishing schedule. It is a short one, with more coming in July and August, hopefully. We are planning to do two sites a day, one in the morning and one after lunch, but may have to cancel the afternoon sites if our drought and hot weather continue since we do not want to stress the trout when the water gets to warm. That of course will be a game day decision. The first day our afternoon site is planned to be on Wiscoy Creek below its junction with East Koy Creek, as in the past we have found a large number of fish stocked in the East Koy end up in the Wiscoy below the falls.

The attached map shows the meeting times and places

Tuesday June 20 – East Koy Creek. Meet at 9:15 AM at the Overholt Road DEC angler parking area. This is a survey to evaluate the success of stocking a hybrid strain of brown trout, thus we will be shocking long sections of the stream these three days so we can handle as many fish as possible, looking for fin clipped stocked trout. Also, we will doing a hot dog cookout for lunch this day, so please let me know if you wish to participate.

Wednesday June 21 – East Koy Creek. Meet at Jordan Road, near the Letchworth High school at 9:15 AM.

Thursday June 22 – East Koy Creek. Meet at the first large dirt pull off on Shearing Road, ¼ mile west of Rt. 19 in Gainesville at 9:15 AM.
