Roadless Rule: Let's Get Engaged!!!

No, not that kind of engaged.  But if you could engage with your electeds on the Roadless Rule, you’d be a real gem! Legislation has been introduced to rescind the Roadless Rule. If passed, tens of millions of acres of roadless area would be open to road creation.  The roadless designation is a bit of a misnomer.  There already are roads in these areas that allow for wildfire prevention and timber management.  However, rescinding the rule would allow for unrestricted road creation.  This would negatively impact fish and wildlife in these areas as well as impact current recreational activities.  Some wording in the legislation calling for rescinding the rule suggests this is for wildfire prevention.
