WNY TU Citizen Science Initiatives Gain Great New Tools; Looking for Monetary Donations for NEW Electroshocker.

The chapter has purchased a thermal imaging drone thru a generous donation in memory of Rick Kinecki from Vice-President Ken Kinecki and the Kinecki family. Some of our longtime members will remember Rick from his days working at the Reed Orvis Shop in Williamsville. I was lucky enough to know Rick and he was always helpful and eager to share his passion and knowledge of fly fishing. This is a great tribute to him. The drone will be used to survey Western New York streams and waterways by Kyle Glenn and his New York Trout Unlimited team. There are number of projects that are planned for this year that will be using the drone.

There is one other piece of equipment we would like to acquire that will round out the toolkit for monitoring and improving the Trout population in Western New York. It is a portable electroshocking unit. The chapter is hoping to raise $3755 to complete the purchase and we are asking for your help.

Any donation made by an individual will be matched by the chapter. We hope to have the unit available for use this summer. Please consider donating to this worthy cause. Please contact treasurer@wnytroutunlimited.org if you are interested in donating. Thanks in advance.
