Tentative 2024 Spring Trout Sampling Schedule Released

Hello,

Below is our tentative trout stream electrofishing schedule for June-August.  This is a fairly light schedule due to other work priorities, as well as a substantial stream habitat enhancement project that is going to happen at some point between mid-June and early September, which I will be planning for and overseeing.  A few more days may be added if time allows.

This year’s sampling will include pre-habitat enhancement trout population estimates at two sites on Wiscoy Creek in mid-June, evaluating trout reproduction at four sites on Wiscoy Creek and the N. Branch Wiscoy in August, and also some research we will be doing in collaboration with Kyle Glenn from TU National on the effects of beaver ponds on stream temperatures and trout populations, also in August.

Below are our currently scheduled sampling dates, with the June sampling also showing details of meeting times and places.  I will send out another email later in July with details for the August sampling.

Wednesday June 12th – Wiscoy Creek.  Meet at 9:15 AM at the Albro Road crossing, 100 yards south of Rt 39, and about two miles west of Pike.  We will be doing a site here in the morning and another site upstream near Bliss in the afternoon.

Thursday June 13th – Wiscoy Creek.  Back up day for the 12th.

August 12-15 – Wiscoy Creek sampling.

August 19-22 – Wiscoy Creek sampling.
