February 2025 Conservation Report

On February 10, WNYTU volunteers Ken Kinecki and Tom Piwowar along with TU Biologist Kyle Glenn and NYDEC Operations loaded and transported 71 Xmas trees down to a staging area along Wiscoy Creek in Bliss NY. These trees will be used for some Conifer tree bank improvement projects Kyle will be doing this summer. The 71 trees were collected by father and son Joe and Ryan Bennett after the holidays and stored at their home. Special thanks to the Bennetts and the folks that helped get them down to Bliss.

The application for NYDEC habitat Access grant funds has been submitted for funds to be used on the Wiscoy Bank restoration project being done this summer at the Boy Scout Camp.

Kyle Glenn has been crunching the data from his thermal drone flights along the Wiscoy and will be reporting on his findings at the March meeting.
