A Career Well Spent: Honoring Scott Cornett

Recently a good friend and one of our main partners at New York State DEC Scott Cornett retired his position as Fisheries Biologist in Region 9. Whether it was habitat projects, tree planting, lunker structure building and placing, fish sampling in the waters of Western New York, giving us the state of the streams and steelhead reports or just fishing, Scott has been a leading voice and advocate for our area waterways. At Scott's retirement get together last week members of the chapter presented Scott with a letter from Chris Wood, President and CEO of Trout Unlimited, thanking him for his work and contributions to TU's goals. Scott was also presented with a beautiful portrait of himself created by local artist and owner of Lakes, Rivers and Streams Rob Benigno. Thank you Scott for everything you've done and helped TU do over the years for the waters, habitats and fisheries of Region 9. We'll see you out on the water.
