Genesee BOCES Students Pitch in on the Wiscoy

Back on March 20th a group a students and citizen scientists from Genesee Valley BOCES came down to the Wiscoy to assist Kyle Glenn with a macroinvertebrate collection in the creek. This part of Kyle's work on the Wiscoy, which has included bank stabilization, habitat creation and thermal drone surveying among other projects, is designed to preserve one of the most valuable wild trout streams in the area. The students assisted in collecting various bugs and other invertebrates in the stream as the presence of certain bugs can help scientists determine the relative health of the system. The collected specimens will be sorted at our special monthly meeting on April 12th at Orvis at 12:30pm. Thanks again to Mr. Krajna and the students from Genesee Valley BOCES for their valuable assistance.
